Parents are scrambling after the Kansas City, Kan., School District began strictly enforcing a state law that keeps children without updated immunizations out of school.
The crackdown has turned into an administrative headache for the school district, a learning loss for students, a burden for parents and a strain on the medical community.
The district and medical officials estimated 2,000 of 19,000 students weren’t compliant on mandatory vaccines. The students had to either bring in proof of immunization or hurriedly get the vaccines they missed.
