September 10, 2010. Mothers Alliance Ireland claims THE SCHOOLS VACCINATION CAMPAIGN, which is to be rolled out this month in Irish Schools for 12/13 year-old girls, poses a serious risk to the lives, health and welfare of Irish children, and it MUST BE ABANDONED IMMEDIATELY.
“Critical information concerning the Gardasil vaccine is being withheld from parents and the public and as a result parents are being denied the right to make a valued and fully informed decision about whether or not to consent to getting their daughters vaccinated”, said Mrs. Nora Bennis, MAI spokesperson. MAI has written to the Minister for Health and Minister for Education outlining the very serious concerns the group has about the safety, efficacy and necessity of this vaccine.
“The HSE claims the vaccine is very safe with some mild side effects. Yet the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Report clearly contradicts this claim. HIQA states: ‘Mild to moderate local reactions in up to 90% of recipients have been reported’. 77 teenage Gardasil-associated deaths and over 19,000 adverse reactions have been reported to the US based Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System and distraught parents in America and other countries are begging the Irish Government not to make the same mistakes here”, Mrs. Bennis said
“The HSE says the child who receives this vaccine is “protected NOW for the FUTURE”. Once again, the HIQA Report and other experts in this field expose the lie of this dangerous claim. Immunity from the vaccine may only last for a short time – possibly 5 years, and ‘the protective effect of the vaccine against invasive cervical cancer has not yet been demonstrated’, according to HIQA. There is also evidence in the HIQA report to show that one-third of those vaccinated may not be immune at all from one of the high-risk strains of HPV, strain 18.
And the HSE doesn’t tell parents that this vaccine could actually lead to cancer in specific cases. If the vaccine is administrated to girls who are already infected with two strains of HPV (strain 18 and 16) it could increase their risk of developing cervical cancer by 44.6%
Minister Harney must IMMEDIATELY call a halt to this vaccination programme”, Mrs. Bennis concluded.
