A group of citizens, mostly mothers, on Thursday protested what they said is the lack of public education on the new HPV vaccine.
The vaccine was launched on Wednesday at a ceremony held at the East La Penitence Health Centre. The protestors were mostly women and were not part of an organised group, however, they converged through a mutual concern, sharing information they found through researching the HPV vaccine on the Internet.
The picketers’ main point was that they are not against the vaccine, but are concerned about its negative effects. Although the possible outcomes made by the protesters were highly unlikely, they stated that the public needed to be notified of all concerns prior to the vaccine being administered.
