ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: To evaluate the feasibility of detecting human papillomavirus E6 (HPVE6) gene mRNA in the peripheral blood of
patients with locally advanced cervical cancer, and the relationship of the circulating HPV viral–specific mRNA with clinicopathologic factors and prognosis of locally advanced cervical cancer.

FIGURE SET I.
Natural Infectious Disease Declines Preceding Public Immunization Efforts

Figures one (1) through eleven (11) graphically illustrate that in North America, Europe, and the South Pacific , major declines in life-threatening infectious diseases occurred historically either without, or far in advance of public immunization efforts for specific diseases as listed. This provides irrefutable evidence that vaccines are not necessary for the effective elimination of a wide range of infectious diseases.

Stress inhibits hair growth in mice by induction of premature catagen development and deleterious perifollicular inflammatory events via neuropeptide substance P-dependent pathways.

Am J Pathol. 2003 Mar;162(3):803-14.

Abstract

It has been much disputed whether or not stress can cause hair loss (telogen effluvium) in a clinically relevant manner. Despite the paramount psychosocial importance of hair in human society, this central, yet enigmatic and controversial problem of clinically applied stress research has not been systematically studied in appropriate animal models. We now show that psychoemotional stress indeed alters actual hair follicle (HF) cycling in vivo, ie, prematurely terminates the normal duration of active hair growth (anagen) in mice.

Can Stress Cause Hair Loss?

August 27, 2010 By Jonathan Leave a Comment

New York Times

August 27, 2010

Alopecia areata is a mysterious disorder that can cause everything from a barely noticeable loss of a patch of hair to total loss of all body hair, including the eyebrows. When alopecia was recently featured in the Patient Voices series, several readers had questions about the relations between stress and the onset of the disorder. Here, Dr. Maria Hordinsky, a dermatologist from the University of Minnesota, responds.

Stress has been cited frequently as a factor in autoimmune diseases, including alopecia areata. Yet experimental evidence to decisively link stress and alopecia has been lacking.
