Sara, Utah: At 19 years old, Sara had everything going for her. She was attending Brigham Young University on a full academic scholarship, majoring in Social Work with a minor in women’s studies. In addition to being academically gifted, she had been a dancer for years. She was in excellent health, never smoked or drank alcohol, ate healthy food and exercised regularly. She was a virgin. In short, she was at very minimal risk for cervical cancer.
She received an HPV information sheet from her college outlining the potential risks of HPV infection and the benefits of Gardasil vaccination. The only potential side effects listed on the information sheet were pain at the injection site, redness, and perhaps fainting. When Sara went to her physician for her annual check-up, the doctor was adamant that she needed Gardasil, even though she had a very low potential risk of cervical cancer based on her history and lifestyle. Sara followed her doctor’s advice, even though there was no history of cervical cancer in her family. The first injection, though painful, was not followed by particular reaction.
In January of 2007, when she went in for the second injection, she had no idea what events would follow. Sara was administered the second dose of Gardasil at the same time she took her seasonal flu vaccine.
One week later, Sara woke up paralyzed by pain. She was unable to get out of her bed. Four hours later, her roommates discovered her and she was rushed to the hospital. That was only the beginning of what she has continued to go through.
Sara now has a severely compromised immune system. Her white blood cell count dropped to virtually nothing. In the words of her physicians, her immune system has been almost completely eradicated. She has severe chronic pain in addition to chronic fatigue. Sara is extremely sensitive to any type of medication, when she never had a problem before. There have been many instances where she has been completely bedridden, unable to do anything.
It took three months for her physicians to recognize she had experienced an adverse reaction to Gardasil. They immediately filed a report with VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System). They also tried for over a year to contact Merck with no success. All phone calls went unanswered.
The icing on the cake was as soon as vaccine injury was determined to be the cause of her problems, Intermountain Health Care (IHC) would take no responsibility or acknowledge that her symptoms were caused by an adverse reaction to a vaccine administered at one of their clinics. So much for the Hippocratic Oath.
Sara feels like she is living in someone else’s body. Every day she wakes up wondering whether she will ever be her normal self again.
In spite of all of her physical ailments after Gardasil, Sara graduated valedictorian of her class and is now enrolled in a Masters Program and working as a research assistant. Sara is one more girl who has refused to allow her reaction to Gardasil make her ‘one less.’
Those people, who make vaccines, should administer it first to themselves, but they will never do that because they KNOW it’s dangerous. They will NEVER give these vaccines to their children, because it’s so DANGEROUS. So, what do we do? We have make sure we are making informed decision about vaccinations! It’s our responsibility to make sure we are healthy.

My daughter Shawn had the shots in 2008/2009. She was in the hospital 20 days later. She was not a minor so I was not aware, but after extensive study to find the real cause of her deformity and other health problems just didn’t sound right to me I asked her did you take gardasil. Yes was her response. I said well I don’t need to research anymore. I am doing everything I can to return her to the once very normal healthy girl she was. She has crippling effects. She has had to alter her work and life style. Her diet is very restricted. Merck should have notified all health professionals when the lawsuit occurred to look for certain signs of possible gardasil poisoning or side effect. My daughter wasn’t even informed of the vaccine court pay outs. She said she never related the two and neither did any doctor or hospital experience. I am happy she hasn’t died from this drug push on our children. She is well loved by her students, friends, employers and of course her mother. She still has a way to go, but if we can regain even 80% we are getting ahead. I reported to Merck. I am looking through all of her records. She is connecting everything in occurrence from each shot. I am sending a letter to everyone and anyone possible for resolve legal to change the limits of suit regarding gardasil. As a mother I am heart broken to know this happened to her. I am also concerned for other victims. If a gardasil recipient was a president’s daughter, congress or assembly daughter, merck’s daughter, Bill Gates daughter you can be sure laws would protect the victim and legal suit would be life long due to the nature of the side effects.
Those people, who make vaccines, DO administer them to their children because they know that statistically their children run a much lower risk of cancer and related problems with the vaccine than without. Make sure you make an INFORMED decision about vaccines, and make sure you rely on reliable and scientific sources for your news.
Tim, Do you really believe President Obama said Yes to hpv vax for his daughters? Do you really believe Bill Gates lets his kids be vaccinated? Do you not know that Tony Blair’s son Leo did not get the MMR vaccine in the ’90s?
Wake up, Tim. Be brave and educate yourself.
In the United States cervical cancer accounts for less than one percent of cancer deaths. Therefore if Gardasil resulted in even a one percent increase in cancer deaths other than cervical cancer because of a weakened immune system than that would wipe out any possible benefit from a decrease in cervical cancers deaths. Gardasil has not been tested for carcenagenic effects. It reportedly costs 68 cents a dose to manufacture and yet they charge over $120 a dose for the product. Greed is a major factor in the push for Gardasil.
By the way, I was on Vioxx just before it was taken off the market. In order to be effective I had to take it in a higher dosage (at least 50mg.). Presumably that would have put me at a significant risk of adverse effects. I was not on it long term because it was taken off the market.
