TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Pregnancy Riskline, a statewide nonprofit organization, announced a new national study to assess the safety of receiving the meningitis vaccine during pregnancy.
The APR, based out of the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy, said in a news release that the launch of the study coincides with World Meningitis Day on Sunday. The national Organization of Teratology Information Specialists, a parent group to the APR, is conducting the research, which will be ongoing run through 2015.
Participation in the study involves two to four interviews and the release of medical records relating to the woman’s current pregnancy. It is open to pregnant women who have received the meningitis vaccine during their first few weeks of pregnancy.
